IEC was founded in September 1956 as an air cargo customs clearance company with a capital investment of 500,000 yen. It was around that time that Japan began to enjoy better relations with the former Soviet Union, which became a member of the United Nations and steadily began to make major strides toward recovery from a long period of postwar disarray.
Ever since being established, we have provided year-round 365-day, 24-hour a day service. This enabled us to receive particularly strong support from mass communications companies, especially newspaper companies and television broadcasters. At present, some may find it difficult to realize that a large of volume of film, newsprint, and other information media for world news was being transported by airplane . The business of handling such information cargo demands both speed and accuracy. Mistakes are unforgivable. Thus, we are engaged in an extremely punishing business that is under constant pressure 24 hours a day.
In Japan, the age of television got underway when NHK, Japan's public broadcaster, hosted the first television broadcasts in 1953. This was followed by the appearance of a number of private broadcasters. A few years later in 1958, jet aircraft were introduced among the private airline industry. From 1959 to 1960, air freighter came into service, leading the way to the creation of a large-volume air cargo industry. This was an important business development that IEC sought to turn to its advantage.
The know-how acquired from handling information cargo, while contributing to the processing of information materials generated by the Olympics and leading to improvements in such areas as immediate customs clearance of perishable cargo, also contributed significantly to improving the quality of service needed for handling general cargo and cargo transported by sea.
IEC is not a flashy company. We live by a simple business motto: “ingenuity, skill and execution.” And despite our small size, our goal is to become a full-service logistics company that provides a complete set of transport and travel business services ranging from the delivery of cargo by air and sea, warehousing, and domestic transport to delivery processing distribution. To accomplish this goal, we operate distribution centers and other key facilities, and maintain overseas network.
We want to be a company that uses its high quality logistic operations to make important business contributions in Japan and overseas regions. We work hard everyday to provide the best logistics solution that both pleases and satisfies our customers.
